November 2-9, 2024

Join Lauren Wood, host of the Women in Trial Travel Summit, for a specially curated small group trip to Morocco in the fall of 2024. Just ten women, one sponsor and your host will make up a group of twelve for this one-of-a-kind opportunity to visit the exciting country of Morocco. Attendees will take in the wonderful things that Morocco has to offer, while simultaneously checking off three hours of those pesky MCLE* specialty credits (covering topics like ethics, competency and bias). No detail is overlooked, and guests will enjoy luxury accommodations, private tours, private transportation with a dedicated chauffeur and delicious meals. You'll start in Casablanca, then head to Fes and end your trip in Marrakech. If you are looking to spend a week bonding with your female colleagues, sharing trial stories, discussing cases, and checking off three hours of MCLE* specialty credits—all while enjoying incredible food, artisan shopping and Moroccan culture—then this group trip is not to be missed.

*Note: MCLE credits are pending State Bar approval.

Meet in Casablanca

Book your flight to Casablanca Airport (CMN) and aim to arrive in the morning. Once at the airport, you'll be picked up by private transportation. On Saturday, you'll meet up with the group, visit the Hassan II Mosque and the Hobouss in the afternoon, then everyone will dine together at the famed Rick's Cafe, a restaurant designed to recreate the bar made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the movie classic Casablanca. That evening, you'll check in to your shared or single occupancy room at the beautiful Royal Mansour Casablanca.

Fes Souks + Tanneries

After breakfast in the tiled courtyard of Palais Amani, you'll head out on a guided tour of Fes' most popular monuments, like Qarawiyyin and the Jewish Heritage Museum. Lunch will be free so attendees can try a restaurant of their choosing. The afternoon will consist of visits to the artisans quarters, the souks, the leather tanneries and the medina. We'll then do a tasting trail, where we'll taste our way through Fes cuisine.  Then the evening will be free for everyone to relax, explore the city or go back and shop the souks or artisan quarters again.

Tuesday, November 5

Marrakech

After breakfast, we'll drive to the train station where we will all take a train from Fes to Marrakech (not included). Lunch will be free, and in the afternoon we will check in to Riad Elegancia in Marrakech. Get settled in to your room, where you'll stay for three nights. That evening, we will all join together for a dinner at our Riad. If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk to Jemaa el-Fna, where the bustling square will delight your senses. See snake charmers, eat local food and shop from local artisans.

Marrakech Monuments

After breakfast, you'll head out on a guided tour of Marrakech's most popular monuments like Koutoubia, Palaces, Saadian Tombs. Lunch will be enjoyed together at the famous Le Jardin. In the afternoon, we'll continue our guided tour of the medina, the souks and the spice market, then head over to Jemaa el-Fna. Pack an extra bag or leave space in your suitcase because you will definitely want to shop the souks! That night, we will do a private dinner at the Selman Stables, a stud farm known for their stunning Arabian thoroughbred horses, where we'll hear a storyteller and live Andalusian trio.

Thursday, November 7

YSL Museum + Cooking Class

After breakfast, you'll visit the famed Majorelle Gardens & YSL Museum, a museum entirely devoted to the work of the legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. The gardens are just so picturesque. Lunch will be free so you can choose to dine either at the gardens or another restaurant nearby. In the afternoon, we will start our private Moroccan Tagine cooking class, which is where we will enjoy our dinner. Later in the evening will be free to relax or head back to the souks or the square.

Later that afternoon, we'll drive to the Agafay Desert for a sunset camel ride, then a farewell dinner in the Agafay Desert, where we'll enjoy our last dinner together. Think sand, camels, colorful tapestries and a candlelit meal. This is a truly Moroccan experience, and the perfect way to end your trip!

Saturday, November 9

Depart Home

After breakfast, you'll say your goodbyes to the group and head over to RAK airport for your departure flight. The flights heading home vary tremendously, with some leaving RAK early in the morning and some leaving in the evening. If you choose to leave in the evening, you can use this as a free day to revisit any of the sites you either missed or visited before but want to return to. All attendees will be provided with transportation to the airport, no matter what time they leave.

Please Read Before Signing Up

Whether you are a new attendee or have attended a prior WITTS Group Trip , please read the following terms, as the terms have changed:

Space for this trip is limited and it is anticipated that it will fill up quickly. After registration, you will be sent a link to pay a non-refundable $1,000 deposit. If you've been on a prior WITTS trip, you may have noticed the deposit is higher. This is because the constant booking and cancellation of attendees is very difficult to accommodate and—because the fall is peak season to travel to Morocco—nearly all the hotels and tours are prepaid.  Your spot cannot be held without paying the deposit. You will have three (3) days to pay the deposit; after which, if payment has not been received, your spot may be given away to someone else. After paying a deposit, 50% of the remaining balance will be due 90 days prior to the start of the trip, with the full balance due 60 days prior to the first day of the trip.

You may have also noticed the price of this trip is higher than some in the past. Again, this is because November is PEAK SEASON for Morocco, meaning it's the most expensive time to go. But what that also means is that we are nearly guaranteed to have beautiful, temperate weather, instead of the excruciating heat of the summer or the cold desert winters.

This is a group trip.  If you cannot be respectful and kind to other attendees, then this trip is not for you. If you cannot commit to being on time—as a courtesy to other attendees—then this trip is also not for you. Similarly, if you do not do well in a small group setting, you may want to reconsider attending.  If travel stresses you out, then traveling in a group setting probably won't be any easier. If you are particular about sharing a room with people, then you are strongly encouraged to book a single. In sum, negativity on group trips has the ability to ruin other people's trip. For this reason, you are strongly encouraged to think about whether a group trip is right for you before signing up.

If you can commit to being respectful of other attendees, are open to trying new foods and experiences, and are looking for a trip where you will bond with like-minded female trial lawyers and women in the legal industry, enjoy incredible dishes and see what the exciting country of Morocco has to offer, then it would be our pleasure to host you.

*All attendees are required to purchase a travel insurance policy that includes medical coverage. While any travel insurance policy with medical coverage will suffice, attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase a policy with Cancel for Any Reason coverage. In the event that life gets in the way last minute and you are required to cancel within thirty (30) days of the trip, for a reason that is not covered by typical insurance policies, Cancel for Any Reason coverage may help get some of your money back. Please read the entirety of our cancellation policy, along with general Terms & Conditions, HERE.

Flights & Travel Information

You will want to book a Multi-City trip, which can easily be found on Kayak or Google Flights, then purchased directly through the airline. Attendees should aim to depart the US in the early evening on November 1st and arrive in Casablanca (CMN) in the early afternoon. Flights from Fes to Marrakech should be booked separately, as it will be significantly cheaper to book in-country domestic flights separate from your international flights. For departure, choose a flight home from Marrakech (RAK). Flights early in the morning get back the same day (Saturday).
